CONFIRMATION & RECEPTION

Confirmation is the mature affirmation of baptismal vows for those baptized at an early age.  Confirmation is only administered by a bishop, usually during his annual visitation to the parish.   At St. Thomas' youth confirmation preparation is held each year during the  four months prior to the bishop's annual visitation.  The preparation includes the assignment of a mentor (an adult member of the congregation) and various other required activities.  Normally this preparation is provided for those in grade eight or above.  Baptized adults who wish to be confirmed should participate in the eight session "Episcopal Church 101" classes which are held on Sunday mornings during the four months prior to the bishop's visitation.  Adults who wish to be baptized should plan to do so at the bishops visitation in which the rite includes the laying on of hands (Confirmation).  Those baptized persons who wish to be received into the Episcopal Church from other denominations in communion with this Church should also attend the Episcopal Church 101 classes.  For more information contact the clergy or call the parish office.
